Three suits is a trap

Almost every hand on the card uses one or two suits. Very few use all three. So a rack spread evenly across Craks, Bams, and Dots is not a flexible rack, it is an unfocused one.
Count your suits after the Charleston. If you are still holding meaningful tiles in all three, one of them is going to have to go, and it is cheaper to decide that now than six discards later.
Note
The suit to drop is usually the one with no pair in it. Losing singles costs you very little; breaking a pair costs you the scarcest thing you own.
Reading ahead is fine. The path takes lessons in order, so this one ticks off once you get here.
