Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the Mahjee mobile app and the Mahjee website at mahjee.app (together, the “Service”), operated by Michael Cruz (“we,” “us,” “our”).

Information we collect

Depending on how you use the Service, we collect:

• Account email (optional). Signing in is optional. If you choose to create an account (via Apple or Google) to save and sync your progress, we receive an email address for that account. You can use the app and the website without signing in, and everything on both stays fully playable if you never do.
• Practice progress. Your learning progress, practice history, and mastery data are stored primarily on your device and, if you sign in, synced to our servers so you don't lose them across devices.
• Subscription status. If you subscribe to Mahjee Pro, the app store you bought it from (Apple or Google) processes the payment, and we receive your subscription status (active, expired, and similar) through our subscription provider, RevenueCat, so we can unlock Pro features. We do not receive or store your payment-card details.
• Basic usage and diagnostics. Our hosting and privacy-friendly analytics may record standard technical information such as approximate region, device or browser type, and the pages or screens you view. We use this in aggregate to understand interest and improve the Service.
• Ad measurement. If you reach our website by tapping one of our ads on Facebook, Instagram or Threads, we tell Meta when you then tap through to the App Store or Google Play, along with the ad-click identifier Meta added to the link, your IP address and your browser type. This helps our ads reach people who want to learn American Mahjong. We do not send Meta anything about visitors who arrive any other way, and we do not load Meta's tracking code on our pages.

What we do not collect

We do not sell your personal information. We do not collect or store your payment-card details: subscription payments are processed by the app store you bought from, Apple or Google. We don't ask for more than we need.

How we use information

• To operate, secure, and improve the Service.
• To respond when you contact us.
• To comply with legal obligations.

How we share information

We share information only with service providers who help us run the Service (for example, our website host and analytics provider, and Meta for the ad measurement described above), and only as needed for them to perform that work. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights. We never sell your data.

Data retention

We keep the limited usage data described above only as long as needed for the purposes above, and no longer.

Your choices and rights

• Access, correction, deletion. Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or California's CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, contact us below.
• Deleting your account. Anyone can delete their account at any time, wherever they live: in the app under Settings, on the website at mahjee.app/delete-account, or by email. It removes the account and everything saved to it.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

International visitors

We operate from the United States. If you access the Service from elsewhere, your information may be processed in a country with different data protection laws than your own.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service evolves, especially when the app launches. We'll change the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
